Job Summary

We are seeking a Research Associate/Sr. Research Associate to join an exciting, fast-growing and well-financed new company to develop novel gene editing therapies for serious diseases. The successful candidates will be integral in discovering and developing the next generation of therapies for hematological diseases. The successful candidates will have significant experience executing and analyzing in vivo experiments in hematology, specifically the hematopoietic and immune system. Basic cell and molecular biology skills are desirable. The position requires enthusiasm, passion, attention to detail, and a desire to create important new medicines for patients.

Job Responsibilities

Plan and conduct gene-editing in vivo mouse studies in support of hematology, ophthalmology/auditory, and congenital heart failure therapeutic portfolio.
Data entry, analysis, technical report writing, and presentation of experimental results in small and large group settings.
Maintain accurate and well-organized records and documentation.
Support of ex vivo and in vitro assays for downstream molecular biology and biochemistry analysis.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Research Associate - BS in biology or related discipline and minimum of 1+ years of relevant research experience.
Senior Research Associate – BS or MS in biology or related discipline and minimum of 5+ years of relevant research experience.
Extensive experience in rodent handling, experience with immunodeficient mice a plus.
Extensive experience with cell/drug delivery procedures (IV, IP, SC, IM, Oral) and blood and tissue collection.
Previous experience executing preclinical models of gene editing or bone marrow transplantation in mice utilizing human grafts (e.g., CRISPR or humanized immune system mice) a plus.
Ability to learn and conduct new in vivo experimental skills as needed is essential.
Proficient in animal welfare and local, state, and federal guidelines for animal care and use in research.
Solid working knowledge of lab equipment and techniques within area of specialty
Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills, and attention to detail.  
A high degree of flexibility and ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects at one time.

Experience with mammalian cell culture (particularly primary hematopoietic cells), molecular and cellular biology techniques (FACS, molecular cloning, plasmid preparation, RNA and DNA isolation, PCR and qRT-PCR, SDS-PAGE/western blot, and ELISA) is a plus.
